The first painting shows a young couple in love in a southern landscape, sitting under the remains of an ancient temple with Corinthian columns. In front of them, on a stone cube, a young woman in a yellow and white robe, waiting for her cavalier, who is coming towards her on a horse in the middle of the picture. On the right side of the picture antique remains with a relief and standing on a pedestal a large stone vase with relief. In the foreground, lying by a body of water, more ancient pieces of stone.
The second painting shows, amidst several pieces of ancient ruins, three soldiers and a young couple, attentively contemplating the remains. These include an ancient temple with Doric columns and various pieces of stone, some with reliefs in the foreground. In the background the high light blue sky in summer light. Minor retouching.
