A VERY FINE ICON SHOWNG THE VLADIMIRSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD Russian, 17th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. Finely executed on a gold ground. Depicted half-length, the Mother of God facing the onlooker while inclining her head towards her son and pointing at him with her right hand, Christ shown seated on her forearm in three-quarter view, looking at his Mother, his legs crossed, revealing his underfoot, their faces highlighted with fine white lines. A saint in monkish attire on the left border. Minor areas of retouching. 31 x 27.3 cm. VERY FINE ICON WITH THE MOTHER OF GOD OF VLADIMIR (VLADIMIRSKAYA) Russia, 17th century. Single panel with two reverse sponki. Kovcheg, egg tempera on chalk ground, background and border gilded. 31 x 27,3 cm. Very fine modelling of the incarnate parts. On the left edge appears a saint in monk's habit. Punctual attunements.
