In canonicas apostolorum septem epistolas collatio. Lyon, Sébastien Gryphe, 1544. In-4, brown calf, double framed with cold fillets, cold fleurons in the corners and in the center, spine decorated with cold fillets, red edges (Binding 16th century). Second edition of the commentaries on the catholic epistles of Claude Guilliaud (1493-1551), theological canon of Autun and professor at the Sorbonne, who dedicated it to his bishop, Jacques Hurault de Cheverny. The original edition had appeared the previous year in the same bookshop. Like his commentaries on the Epistles of Paul published in 1542 and reprinted in 1543 and 1544, this work by Claude Guilliaud was condemned by the theological faculty of Paris in 1547. The volume, printed in Roman and italics, is decorated with pretty historiated letters and two marks by Sébastien Gryphe in the title and the last page. Some marginal annotations of the period. Handwritten ex-libris of a Benedictine congregation on the title. Restored binding, covers and title piece redone, new endpapers, marginal repair on the last page, small dampenings, first and last pages stained, minimal scratches on the title.
