Louis Cauvin was the cousin and pupil of Vincent Cordouan (1810 -1893), a famous painter from Toulon.
Cauvin marked the renewal of Provençal painting with its traditionally repetitive subjects; with him, harmony was established between man and nature. Our composition, with its low and very luminous perspective, recalls those of the great painter of Provence, Paul Guigou (1834 - 1871).
