VIRGIN WITH CHILD Oil on canvas in oval 35 x 46 cm Costa's favourite iconographic subject, religious scenes occupy a predominant place in his work. As an artist who travelled mainly in Northern Italy, he was influenced by Titian, Veronese and Tintoretto, whose works he saw in Venice. A perfect representation of the Italian Baroque of the 18th century, our painting may have been created for the Oratorio della Crocina in Rimini, whose interior Costa painted.
