LATE GOTIC IRON CLOCK
Germany or Italy, 16th/17th c.
Open movement with successive walking and striking mechanism. The narrow corner pillars slanted and with lugs, crowned by pinnacles with finials. Openwork belfry set with flowers. Dial painted with depiction of St. Catherine, below sun and moon. Movement with verge escapement on wheel balance, striking mechanism with lock disc, hour strike on bell.
