Central part of a lintel
Khmer art, ca 12°-13° centuries
Sandstone. 54 x 67 cm
The centre of the composition is occupied by a simhamukha disgorging lotus scrolls. It is surmounted by a kneeling figure of a deity holding an attribute in his right hand. The shape of the lotus scrolls and the simple figure placed above the simhamukha would be characteristic of works created during the so-called 'Bayon' stylistic period. Accidents and visible failures.
