Lying Buddha Myanmar (Burma) ca 19° century Gold lacquered wood on black background. L. 115 cm Rare representation of the parinirv??a of the Buddha. He is traditionally depicted lying down with his head resting on his right hand in the style characteristic of the Mandalay region. The surface is still partially covered with coloured glass plates. Visible wear and small lacks. Provenance : Compagnie de la Chine et des Indes (Paris) (Inv.21723 Acquired in Bangkok in 1973)
