Temple vase Myanmar (Burma), ca 19th century Lacquered bamboo. H. 61,5 cm Important temple vase covered with a rich gold lacquered relief decoration with glass inlays. The bulge of the belly supports high relief representations of felines. An inscription is painted on the neck. Executed in the classical style of the Mandalay region, this object clearly seeks to imitate a metallic creation. Provenance: Compagnie de la Chine et des Indes (Paris) (Inv.23550 Acquired from the Peng Seng Bangkok gallery in 1995)
