Hongsa Thailand, Kingdom of Rattanakosin, 19th century Copper alloy. H. 103 cm Thai version of the Indian hamsa, which would correspond to the anser indicus. It was widely used in this form for the ornamentation of houses. It rests in the centre of a lotus spread supported by a hexagonal pedestal. Small visible accidents. Provenance: Compagnie de la Chine et des Indes (Paris) (Inv.21873 Acquired in Bangkok in 1974)
