Hongsa Thailand, Kingdom of Rattanakosin, 19th century Copper alloy. H. 102 cm Thai version of the Indian hamsa, which would correspond to the anser indicus. It was widely used in this form for the ornamentation of houses. It rests in the centre of a lotus tree supported by a circular pedestal. Small visible accidents. Provenance: Compagnie de la Chine et des Indes (Paris) (Inv.21886 Acquired in Bangkok in 1974)
