Style of the Shan States, Myanmar (Burma) ca 19° century
Gold lacquered wood. H. 90 cm
Classical representation of the Buddha sitting in vajraparyanka on a high architectural base, making the gesture of taking the earth as a witness, bhûmisparçamudrâ. The treatment of the crown is characteristic of the style. The surface is richly decorated with applications of coloured glass plates. Small accidents and visible lacks.
