Silk GHOUM (Iran), Shah's time, circa 1980. Dimensions : 400 x 300cm. Technical characteristics: Silk velvet on silk foundations. Density of 720,000 knots in one square meter.
A magnificent midnight blue and cream polylobed medallion with flowering foliage is placed on a brick field, enriched by polychrome ramifications. Four ivory and cream spandrels, with plant arabesques, superimposed, frame the whole. The main midnight-blue border is enclosed by two ivory counter-borders, all with floral garlands.
