KACHAN SOOF in silk and relief (Persia), late 19th century, early 20th century. Dimensions : 144 x 100cm. Technical characteristics : Silk velvet on silk foundations. Density of 490,000 knots in one square meter. Framed by two flowering shrubs and delicate flowering plants, enthroned in the centre of a creamy field, a magnificent baluster vase from which emerges a superb bouquet of polychrome flowers. The branches of the shrubs join together to form the imperceptible mihrab of this carpet. The garnet-red vaults are with vegetal arabesques. Five small counter borders with checkers, flowers and geometric shapes frame the main marine border with interlaced flower crowns. Central motifs in relief.
