Fine silk GHOUM (Iran), Shah's time, circa 1975. Dimensions : 210 x 138cm. Technical characteristics: Silk velvet on silk foundations. Density of 640,000 knots in one square meter.
An important oblong counter-field, with crenellated arabesques, covered with delicate polychrome floral stems and eight vegetal medallions, supports a vegetal rosette, ivory and gold, lengthened by two ruby red arrowheads and crenellated excrescences, decorated with flowers. The sea field makes a timid appearance in the form of four angular flowered openings. The main ruby border has a succession of magnificent multicoloured, open corollas. Two ivory counterborders with stylized and volatile garlands of gold and ruby surround it. Outer highlighting with undulating ribbon. Great poetry.
