Fine silk HEREKE signed (Turkey), circa 1970. Size : 84 x 53cm. Technical characteristics : Silk velvet on silk foundation. Density of 1,100,000 knots in one square meter. The cream field of the mihrab of this small carpet hosts a flowering tree and a multicoloured flowerbed. Perched birds brighten the scene. The pointed mihrab is an extension of the main burgundy border with garlands of polychrome flowers. The vaults are cream with flowering stems. Chestnut counter-borders with arabesque decoration highlight the whole. Cartouche signed in the upper left corner.
