ROMANIA, 1810
An important icon, the central panel shows the coronation of the Virgin, it is surmounted by the dove of the Holy Spirit. Under the coronation: Saint Basil the Great, Saint Gregory the Theologian and on each side the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit crowning the Virgin.
In a decoration of gilded wood floral scrolls (missing) there are twelve medallions depicting Saints : Constantine and Helen, Archangel Michael, Archangel Gabriel, St. John the Theologian, Apostle Paul, Apostle Matthew, St. Luke, Martyr Irene, St. Spyridon, St. Mark, St. John, St. Peter.
Painted by the Greek masters in Romania in the classical Greek palette and Aegean Sea colours.
