Chassis number: S818016 Inline 6-cylinder engine Displacement: 3442 cc 260 hp Maximum speed : 250 km/h The greatest sports car in history, which won the Le Mans 24 Hours 3 times in a row from 1955 to 1957, the Jaguar Type D, designed around a riveted aluminum monocoque chassis that was both rigid and lightweight with a front tubular lattice and a rear tubular lattice, distinguished itself in the hands of great professional drivers such as Mike Hawthorn and Stirling Moss, as well as private drivers. Our replica, nicely made with an aluminium body equipped with the long nose and the famous daggerboard behind the driver's head, in order to improve the aerodynamics and therefore the top speed (which reached 288 km/h in the Hunaudières straight!), takes the year and chassis number 818016 of the Jaguar XK 140, whose parts were used to make it. It so happens that the year 1956 corresponds to the production of the Type D by the Jaguar factory. This is a neat car with many fi ne details like the oil sniffer, the Dunlop wheels with central clamping, the opening of the petrol tank with its specific hatch or the small rear trunk, which houses the spare wheel. The 2-piston brake calipers pinch solid discs. This nice Type D replica offers high performance with an engine of about 260 horsepower powered by 3 Weber carburetors for a weight of about one ton. In very good condition, well finished in British Racing Green with green interior and registered in the collection car registration, it has been in the same collection since 1998. It is offered as is and without technical control. Its estimate, well below its manufacturing cost, is about one hundredth of the price of a real Le Mans Type D with a long nose and daggerboard...
