Chassis number: 3-DL-108 V12 engine at 60° 7338 cc 180 hp Maximum speed: 140 km/h The Rolls-Royce 40/50 HP Phantom III presented to the public in October 1935 replaced the Phantom II at the top of the range of the emblematic British manufacturer, while the 25/30 HP and then the Wraith offered a more affordable alternative at the end of the thirties, if we can call it that at Rolls-Royce. The Phantom III introduces a new 7.4-litre aluminium V12 engine with a displacement of 7.4 litres and 180 horsepower, coupled to a synchronised 3rd and 4th gearbox. It was the last model that Sir Henry Rolls worked on before his death and was produced in a total of 710 units. In its 1936 test by Autocar magazine, the 4-door Phantom III limousine reached 100 km/h from a standing start in 17 seconds, with a top speed of 148 km/h and an average fuel consumption of 30 litres per cent. The Rolls-Royce Phantom III 4-door sedan from Park Ward's aluminum body sale is a copy of the D-Series, the last one produced, available from 1938 to 1939. Finished in two tones (black and burgundy) with a beautiful burgundy leather interior, it is equipped with solid wheels, offered as an alternative to the traditional spoked wheels. The Dubail garage in the North of France took care of repainting it about ten years ago. In good general presentation condition, this Phantom III, to be restarted, without any technical control and sold with French registration, represents the opportunity to acquire a prestigious vehicle with an V12 engine, rare and very luxurious at an attractive price. This car, sold new by the famous Jack Barclay garage and equipped with a sunroof, which spent many years in Asia before its purchase by the current owner about 20 years ago, is offered with its magnificent crystal decanters in the back, a maintenance manual and an important correspondence file dating back to the fifties.
