Man Ray is the one who immortalized the birth of Marcel Duchamp's female alter-ego, Rrose Sélavy, through an enigmatic photo taken in 1921. The portrait shows Duchamp in drag, and the latter, no doubt fascinated by this new avatar, retouched the print himself.
