Joseph-Emmanuel ZWIENER (1849-1895) or François LINKE (1855-1946) and the sculptor Léon MESSAGE, attributed to : EXCEPTIONAL CLOCK BOARD in rosewood veneer, satinwood and stained wood, with curling and inlay decoration on the shelves. Very rich ornamentation of chiselled and gilded bronzes. It rests on 4 strongly curved feet decorated with burst shells, reeds, acanthus leaf scraps. The low crosspiece is underlined by a large bronze moulding with foliated scrolls with a pearl oyster and waterfall. The sides decorated with foliated scrolls, dolphins and waterfalls in interlacing. Opens through two doors simulating curtains with brass fillets, a drawer with a rocaille cartouche in garlands of flowers and angel wings, a leather-wrapped drawer tray. The upper body is made of a highly animated cardboard box with 4 leather-covered drawers in bronze frames with foliated motifs. The tops of the uprights are underlined at the corners with allegories of Peace and War. On one side on the left, the Romanesque "Pax" with a head of Caesar in phylactery, snake, standard and laurel wreaths. On the other on the right, a breastplate, lion skin, helmet, sword, trident and spurs. The corners of the cardboard box made of large projecting acanthus leaves surrounded by oak and laurel. The sides of the upper body underlined with dolphin, oyster, waterfalls and rinceaux. At the top, a bronze clock in a radiant sun, with a lacquered sheet metal dial with Roman numerals and chiselled golden dragon-shaped hands, accosted with angel heads, clouds, foliage and sickle. The movement signed "VINCENTI MEDAILLE D'ARGENT 1855", numbered 50 and annotated "FdS PARIS" in a coat-of-arms (very good condition, the interior entirely plated in curling, minute lacks in the plating, a key, traces of signature in a bronze...). Louis XV style, late 19th century. Height. 200 cm, Length. 102 cm, Depth. 44 cm. The watchmaker Jean VINCENTI, of Corsican origin, was based in Montbeliard. He also worked at Japy Frères. When he died, his company survived him and moved to Paris where it was awarded the silver medal in 1855.
