Une paire d'urnes couvertes en porcelaine de Chine d'exportation, Qianlong A pair of rare Chinese export porcelain urns and covers, Qianlong H.: 28 cm  Provenance: A Dutch private collection.  Ref.: - The British Museum, Museum number Franks.1401, for another pair, published in 'Ancient Chinese trade ceramics from the British Museum, London', 1994, no. 17, p. 48. The curator's comments: 'The blue-and-green colour scheme using both under and overglaze blue is otherwise extremely rare, although an identical pair of urns was formerly in the Winkworth collection (Sotheby's London, 12th December 1972, lot 124). The shape is closely following a faience model made at Rouen, France (Chompret et al., 1933, vol. IV, pl. 72 A). The decoration which is loosely based on designs developed by Berain was also used at Rouen, but was highly popular at the time in any medium.'
