MONGO, Equateur Province, Democratic Republic of Congo. Woven basketry, wood, skins, patina of use. Large shield with internal wooden handle and parallel slatted frame. This Mongo or Ngandu warrior shield has its trophy (feline skin), this rarity gives it a capital importance. 1st half of the 20th century. Height: 135 cm. Width: 36 cm.
