Official Navy painter.
Military mandarin of the Court of Annam.
Drawing in ink and watercolour highlights on brown framed paper, signed lower right.

In Bordeaux, Paguenaud took classes with the academic painter William Bouguereau, then classes at the Académie Julian in Paris. In 1922 he was appointed "Admiral des Peintres et peintre des Amiraux" (Paul Valery). His fascination for the Orient is expressed in his work, which he exhibited in 1905 at the Salon des indépendants.
