A BRONZE AND IRON PHURBA, 17TH CENTURY OR EAR... Lot n° 456

Tibet. The pommel with three heads of wrathful protectors with fierce expressions, open mouths baring sharp teeth and tongue, a third eye, and wearing five-leaf crowns, with the outer leaves shared between adjacent heads, surmounted by a vajra. The stylized openwork handle with vajras and a makara base secured to the iron blade. Provenance: Swiss private collection. Condition: Good condition with old wear, minor nicks here and there, occasional light scratches, the blade with traces of gilt. Fine dark patina.
