2 parts in one small volume in-4: 9f., 240pp. - 135pp. (missing the first leaf and pages 122-126 replaced by blank leaves); very many woodcuts in the text. Small pagination errors. A few leaves with old restorations, a few fragile leaves including one leaf with small paper lacks.
Modern calf à la Duseuil, spine ribbed, title and small gilded irons between boxes.
Original edition decorated with numerous woodcuts. First and only edition of this quintessence of the "Libri des piscibus marinis" by G. Rondelet (1554-55), by the doctor François Boussuet (1520-1572). Representations of fish, shellfish, sharks, crustaceans, turtles, marine mammals (seals, dolphins, whales, orcas, sawfish), squid and octopus, but also three fantastic sea creatures ("De Monstro Leonino", "De Pisce Monachi habitu" and "De Pisce Episcopi habitu"). The second part deals with shells, starfish, crabs, fish and crocodiles.
