Note: The family of Ilías Lalaoúnis, originally from Delphi, had been goldsmiths for four generations. From 1940 onwards, the latter would run the E. Zolatas jewellery company (in which his family was partners). He created for this company until 1968 before signing his jewellery under his own name. In the 1950s, he became interested in the art and techniques of jewellery from Antiquity. In 1993, he gathered some of his creations in the jewellery museum that bears his name at the foot of the Acropolis in Athens.
