Background:
A pair modelled on our x-shaped stool was presented at the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris in 1925; another similar pair was displayed in the entrance of Robert Mallet-Stevens' Villa Noailles in Hyères.
Blanche J. Klotz repeatedly and symbolically used this model of seat in most of her rare sets between 1925 and 1932, thus showing her deep attachment to this creation.
