Fortunate Joseph Petiot-Groffier (1788-1855) Hospital of Chalon-sur-Saône, 1853. Proof on salted paper, from a paper negative, hinged. 24 x 34 cm Petiot-Groffier , whose laboratory was discovered intact in 2007, was well known in Chalon for his art of taking photographs . In 1853, having learned that it had been decided to demolish the great nave of the hospital in Chalon, the very young Société d'Histoire et d'Archéologie asked Petiot-Groffier to take general views of the building.
