Large and rather fine GHOUM inlaid with Silk (Persia), mid 20th century
A sky blue, oblong, alcove-shaped field covered with a seedling of flowering foliage supports in its centre a polylobed, starry, navy, old gold and ivory medallion and its pendants. Large undulating old gold spandrels with vegetal decoration. The main marine border is flanked by two old gold counter-edges, all three of which are decorated with garlands of polychrome flowers. Highlighting with chess pieces.
