FERAHAN in Silk (Persia), circa 1870
An imposing floral vase sits at the centre of a cream-coloured ogive field. Polychrome floral stems are extracted from it, forming compositions, flown over by two birds. The decoration is completed by two stylised cypresses, at the feet of which are two peacocks making a wheel. The purple arch with ramifications is a varied bestiary. Two small bluish counter-borders with garlands of flowers frame the main fuchsia with interlacing pastel plant stems. Abraded pallet. (Wear and tear)
