KACHAN entirely woven from silk (Persia), late 19th century
A sublime old gold border with braided floral bouquets, flanked by two highlighted counter-borders with garlands of flowers serve as a frame for a magnificent decoration of stems and flowering foliage. This dense floral network is set on a garnet field and a bluish counter-field, highlighted in gold, oblong, polylobed with arabesques, as well as on a diamond-shaped curved garnet and cruciform medallion. Four ivory vegetal spandrels frame the whole.
