Signed autograph music manuscript, Six Études for piano [K 52], 1931; 26 pages in-fol. A large set of six Études for piano, five of which are unpublished, plus four manuscripts of new versions. The manuscript, consisting of a booklet of 7 bifoliums of 12-line Durand paper, is signed "A. J." at the end and dated "Paris. 1931", bears the SACEM registration stamps dated 25 November 1931. It is kept under a cover of strong red paper to which is stuck this autograph note: "These studies are not sc(h)olastic exercises relating to this or that technical difficulty to be solved. The 6 pieces that make up this notebook deserve however this generic title because, by keeping a strictly musical character, they can be used, as a whole, to assimilate certain sound, rhythmic, melodic, if not new, if not new, at least of recent use or until now not very much used". These 6 studies are: I. Concentrated (slow); II. Quick - but not to sacrifice the expression of the line to the speed; III. Calm. - Almost slow; IV. Quite sharp; V. Expressive. - Extremely slow in Mvt [movement]; VI. Lively and stocky - very rhythmic. Only the 5th study was published in the Supplement of the Revue musicale of February 1932, and the manuscript is neatly neatened in black ink. It presents a few corrections, annotations or fingerings in pencil; the end of the 3rd étude was redone on a collette; the last study, very corrected, was then crossed out with diagonal lines in red pencil, with the indication: ""Redone in July 1934"".Attached: -Signed autograph manuscript of Study No. I (4 p.), annotated in pencil by Jolivet: "Little to change. Put in measure. Lighten certain chords. And some accompaniments of less plated chords - less plated.
