This typescript presents many small autograph corrections in blue ink, and an autograph page in pencil, inserted. Typescript [B], identical to the previous one, and with a report, by Chevalier, of his corrections and additions. This text will form chapter XIX of the book. Chevalier recalls moments spent in America: "Lying on a chaise longue - in the midst of other travellers, the horizon seems to me like a screen of gigantic dimensions, where crowds of faces parade and where scenes and sketches interpose themselves as if, at the moment of remembrance, they were in the midst of the world.
