The story of Mr. Oufle's extravagant imaginations caused by the reading of books dealing with magic, grimoire, demons, sorcerers, werewolves, incubi, succubi & the Sabbath; fairies, ogres, flap spirits, genies, ghosts & other revenans ; dreams, the philosopher's stone, judicial astrology, horoscopes, talismans, happy & unhappy days, eclypses, comets & almanac; and finally all sorts of appearances, divinations, spells, enchantments, & other practical superstitions. Satyric novel featuring a man (the anagram of Le Fou) believing "nothing more strongly than what is most incredible to others", and whose title list gives an idea of the beliefs. Original Parisian edition published at the same time as the Amsterdam original (by Rogier, Humbert and de Coup). Worn caps and corners.
