Chady Najem

B 612 "Bringing a new impulse. It was while working with Andrée Putman that Chady Najem discovered her modus operandi. "Personalizing an object is very subjective; it is first of all finding meaning in it. » To get his hands on the Solvay stool, he installs it in his home, in his living room, and observes it. Cut out flat, with a metal assembly, the legs reveal an interior volume that catches his attention. "By dint of looking at it, I see a pyramid in the space delimited by the legs of the piece of furniture. It becomes an evidence, which respects the original work. » Shaped from nickel-plated brass plates, the pyramid has angles that are open to light. This extension is a reminder of the metal shortages at the time Jean Prouvé designed the original. The kinetic energy released by the whole, intriguing and playful, is dear to the designer. It is underlined by the gradient colour of the feet, which connect like bridges to the stage. Made by Martin Berger, with an application of volcanic material and metallic powder, the tray floats like a planet, a synthesis of the stable strength of a pyramid and the lightness of the play of light. This lunar surface gives its name to the creation, B 612, the Little Prince's asteroid." Chady Najem for The Source
