Solvay-Kit mirror, Solvay decomposed and engraved mirror, 112 x 57 cm
"Through the creation of the Solvay Kit miroir, I wanted to pay homage to an aspect of Jean Prouvé's creative process, which industrialized parts to make house construction kits. So, thinking of an assembly kit, I disassembled the Solvay stool.
In its detached form, I put the parts together to create a frame housing a white gold mirror, not mercury, giving it a "handmade" character that contrasts with the industrial origins of the frame. The frame takes up the structure of the stool, which is used in its entirety.
In the same way, a counterpoint is proposed by the Solvay Kit, which goes from a three-dimensional space in the stool version to a two-dimensional adaptation in the mirror version".
