"As the author died during printing (December 9, 1625), the dedicatory epistle at the head of the book bears the signature of his son, Wesselus Emmius. In a letter written shortly before his death, Emmius complains that the Elzeviers did not keep their promise to execute his book in the folio format, which would have allowed him to insert chorographical tables, indispensable for the understanding of the text. The Vetus Graecia was reproduced in volume IV of Antiquities.
