Picardy - LA MORLIERE (Adrien de). The first [second] & [third] books antiques, stories and more remarkable things of the city of Amiens, poetically traced. Paris, Moreau, 1627.
In-4, blond half calf, spine ribbed and decorated (19th century binding). 1] 7 ff.n.ch., 364 pp., 9 ff.n.ch.
The illustration consists of 9 fleurons engraved with burin on the titles, 6 of which are engraved with the arms of the dedicators of the collection, one with the emblem of Christ and the other, repeated, representing the Virgin, with Halbeeck's exclamation, as well as a medal engraved in the text.
This is the second and most complete edition of this historical and poetic collection. This work on the history of the antiquities of the city of Amiens asked the canon to consult nearly two hundred authors, of which he gives the list at the head of the work. Ménage paid tribute to the accuracy of his genealogical research. (Saffroy II, 31805.)
Galleries of verses with lack of leather on the bit of the upper plate, some angular wet spots on the table leaves, otherwise a fine copy.
