Manuscript. War excursions: 1915, in the Yonne and the Côte d'Or. 1916, in Corrèze and Creuze. 1917, in the Ardèche. 1918, Stay in Veyre (Auvergne). Travel diary of [84] ff. mostly handwritten on the back. In-4 black half-marocco cardboard, handwritten title piece on the cover. The author, anonymous, was apparently not mobilized despite what the title suggests; he began his journey on August 5, 1915 by Sens and completed it in Paris on his return from Clermont-Ferrand on August 1, 1918. The content is rich in descriptions of the places he crossed, encounters, anecdotes or scenes seen with the spectre of war often present in the distance. The manuscript is very neat, with a very legible and airy handwriting with titles and caligraphic lettering, and is enriched with numerous small photographic reproductions of the places visited, cut out, pasted and framed in coloured ink, with also some pasted maps bearing the itinerary traced in ink. Another manuscript by the same author is attached: Voyage dans les Vosges et la Forêt-Noire (Journey in the Vosges and the Black Forest). 1909. Travel diary of [78] ff. manuscripts mostly written on the back. In-4 black half-marocco cardboard, handwritten title piece on the cover. The journey begins on July 30, 1909 by Commercy and Domrémy and ends in Paris back from Troyes on August 27. The manuscript is very neat, with a very legible and airy handwriting with titles and caligraphic lettering, and enriched with numerous small photographic reproductions of the places visited, cut out, pasted and framed in coloured ink, with also some pasted maps bearing the itinerary traced in ink and a panorama of the Vosges mountains, which is folded up and pasted at the end.
