Jacob Jordaens was, alongside Peter Paul Ruben and Anthonius van Dyck, one of the most important Flemish baroque painters who shaped the Antwerp school in the 17th century.
Jordaens is best known for his many religious altarpieces, themes of mythology from monumental large formats. Portraits of him are also known, which seem to have a small number in terms of numbers and have not yet been properly explored.
