CHARLEVOIX (Pierre-François-Xavier de). History of Paraguay.
Paris, Didot, Giffart, Nyon, 1757.
6 volumes in-12, marbled basane, spine with decorated nerves (contemporary binding).
Second edition illustrated with 4 large maps engraved by Nicolas Bellin and 3 folding maps, including one of Buenos Aires. It is the best work for the ancient history of Paraguay and for that of the Missions of Brazil, since the first exploration by the Castilian Jean de Solis in January 1516. One piece of tomaison is missing, small defects in the bindings. (Sabin, 12130 - Leclerc, 318).
