An extremely rare wooden Havdallah candle holder Germany, 17th century This highly elaborate polychrome candle holder ends with a sculpted hand whose fingers are bent to reveal the fingernails, referring to the custom of looking at them in the light of the flame during the Havdallah ceremony which marks the end of the Sabbat.
