First edition of one of the best stories of the 14-18 war. Henri Barbusse had himself experienced the fire of the trenches as early as 1915, first as a soldier and then as a stretcher-bearer. He was awarded the Prix Goncourt. - Pleasantly exquisite, covered with a fine half-marocco binding with wedges of excellent workmanship. In good condition. Solid volume, well preserved binding. Burnished inside but free of freckles. With a beautiful ex-libris "François Laveissière" made by Guy Arnoux and enhanced in hand-colours.
