Oenology, Rare Champagne siphon in wood and metal early 19th century L 18 cm This object is not a corkscrew, even if it has at its end a full worm. The siphon was invented at the beginning of the 19th century, when champagne was still reserved for the wealthiest classes. As everyone knows, champagne must absolutely keep its gas to keep all its flavour. To use it, it was enough to pierce the cork with the worm as with a corkscrew and then to push the siphon to the bottom of the bottle. Once the siphon is in place, simply turn the small tap to use the desired amount.
