Spine with 5 partitions, floral and gilt nerves bearing the title in red morocco and the tomaison in green morocco, red edges. Slight wear on the upper cap of volume I, some scattered freckles. Good copy. Frontispiece and 11 figures by Gravelot, engraved by Duclos and Rousseau; 7 technical plates on writing by Laurent; 8 plates for architecture by Poulleau; 18 plates for printing by Dehautesgraves, engraved by Laurent; 13 text plates, a set of 58 plates (according to Cohen, 793). Good copy of this first edition. Very complete with the "Protocol for proofreading" and all alphabets known at that time.
