Bouches-du-Rhône / Purification. Manuscript. [1945]. 11 pp. in-8,.
Very interesting account by Jean Arnould, head of the Marseille Red Cross, arrested and incarcerated at the Liberation. "These notes, written especially for my dear father and mother, will complete for them the memoir that I wrote for the investigating judge and of which they have a copy. Arrested on August 28, 1944 by "3 members of the patriotic militia with sleeveless white knits, but with multiple insignia", he was interrogated, taken to Saint-Pierre prison, "dilapidated and dirty", and had to march through the crowd ready to lynch him. He recounts in detail the conditions of his imprisonment, his passage before the Bouches-du-Rhône purification commission, his transfer to the Baumettes prison, etc.
