Alsace. Odilon Barrot (1791-1873), statesman, President of the Council. Autograph letter signed (draft with many corrections), to "my dear and honourable friend".17 May 1863. 15 pp. in-4. Some defects, printer's notes. Long response to Strasbourg's offer to become his deputy again (he had been deputy for the Bas-Rhin, from 1831 to 1834). "On my return from the trip I have just made to Spain, I find the letters addressed to you from Strasbourg on the occasion of the candidacy offered to me in that city for the next election. It is not surprising that I have religiously kept the memory of the mandate that the people of Strasbourg entrusted to me more than 30 years ago, a mandate that had already been illustrated by Benjamin Constant and Lafayette []". This letter seems to have been printed in a newspaper.
