Panel of fine tapestry of Brussels hijacked. Late 16th century (Flanders) In silk and wool.
Walk in the garden with pergolas Henri 4 in foreground accompanied by Marguerite de Valois (Queen Margot), French park, pergolas and the castle of Nerac in perspective.
This tapestry depicts the magnificent vegetable garden of a rich mansion with a cloister. While gardeners and flower girls are busy in the spotlight, many couples count flowers in the alleys, sheltered by flowering arbours. Pet dogs, duck pond and fishing heron, salamander and coypu animate this decor. Noble walkers and horsemen come out of the forest and approach the vegetable garden enclosures. A large city and numerous battisses appear on the hillside. Braided border.
