17th century Oudenaarde tapestry panel, with the subject of an exotic plant environment with original plants and flowers unknown in Europe at the time, populated by a few rare birds, parakeets, birds of paradise, parrots, coots, probably representing an Indonesian landscape with an important relief. The border is also vegetal, decorated with bouquets and knotted ribbons, medallions imitating forged metal, and the subject is a green landscape. Similar to the Bruges tapestries with a similar border, reproduced in Guy Delmarcel's 'La Tapisserie Flamande'.
Bibliography: The Flemish Tapestry, Iannoo, Guy Delmarcel, Tielt/Belgium-1999.
Three wide borders (missing the bottom border, rewoven in the 19th century by a counter-borders with cartouches creating a balance) with sprays of flowers and foliage framed by medallions inlaid with floral basins and forest landscapes recalling the central subject.
